In this medical malpractice action, the plaintiffs, Donna Tetreault and Matthew T. Tetreault *468(Matthew),1 appeal2 from the judgment rendered by the trial court following a jury verdict in favor of the defendants, MaryE. Eslick, a pediatrician, and Rena Cecchini, a nurse practitioner who was employed by Eslick. On appeal, the plaintiffs claim that the trial court improperly permitted the defendants to raise, and the jury to consider, their special defense of superseding cause.
