Plaintiffs, husband and wife, brought suit against Grays Harbor county and two members of the board of county commissioners to recover damages for personal injuries sustained by the plaintiff wife in consequence of slipping and falling from a ladder in the county clerk’s office. Defendants’ answer consisted of a general denial and three affirmative defenses alleging failure on the part of plaintiffs to file a proper claim, assumption of risk, and contributory negligence.
