This suit originated as a possessory or jactitory action instituted by the State of Louisiana, the State Mineral Board, Sinclair Oil and Gas Company, Sohio Petroleum Company, Peoples Production Company, El Paso Natural Gas Company, and Western Natural Gas Company, who filed the petition wherein they alleged that the State of Louisiana was the owner of certain property described therein, that Sinclair Oil and Gas Company and the other plaintiffs were mineral lessees of the property by virtue of a State lease executed on April 15, 1954 by the State Mineral Board in favor of those lessees.
