The Enlarged South Side Ditch, sometimes called the Pulaski ditch, the John’s Flood Ditch and the Hoehne Ditch all divert water from the Las Animas or Purgatoire river. The John’s Flood Ditch is used for the carriage of approximately twenty-four second feet of water of early priorities for the irrigation of lands in the river bottom; the Hoehne Ditch for the carriage of approximately twenty-two second feet of substantially like priorities for the irrigation of adjoining lands, and the Enlarged South Side Ditch for the carriage of water of early priorities, but junior to those of the other two…
