OPINION

TRAXLER, Circuit Judge.

Joseph Williams, who had previously been convicted of a felony, was convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. See 18 U.S.C.A. § 922(g)(1) (West 2000). Over Williams’s objection, the district court permitted the government to prove Williams’s possession of a weapon through evidence linking Williams to the killing of Gail Collins.
