Nine individuals from eight different states brought fifteen claims against defendants L'Oreal USA, Inc. and its subsidiary Soft Sheen-Carson LLC (collectively, "L'Oreal"). All claims are based on alleged defects in the "Amla Legend Rejuvenating Ritual Relaxer" (the "product"), which is used to chemically straighten naturally curly hair. The product is a single kit that contains five components: (1) the scalp protector, (2) a relaxer cream, (3) a shampoo, (4) a conditioner, and (5) an oil moisturizer.
