INTRODUCTION
Stevens Technical Services, Inc. and Stevens Technical Services (Panama) S.A. (“Stevens”) filed suit to enforce a maritime lien against the SS Brooklyn and recover the amount of the lien from the vessel’s owner, Wilmington Trust Company (“Wilmington”). Following trial by a magistrate pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 636(c), judgment *586was entered in favor of Stevens for the full amount of the lien ($67,524.42); however, Stevens’s request for prejudgment interest was denied.
