Identical issues are involved in these appeals. They were argued together and may be disposed of in a single opinion. In each case, there was a conviction under both § 53-226 and § 53-230 of the General Statutes.1 Both defendants have assigned error in the court’s ruling on certain claims of law; in certain rulings on evidence; in certain conclusions; and finally in the court’s conclusion that on all the evidence the defendants were guilty of the crimes charged beyond a reasonable doubt.
