The defendant Bewley Truesdale Contracting Co., Inc. (hereinafter called the Bewley Co.), as general contractor, was building a building in the city of Lockport. The R. S. McMannus Steel Construction Company, Inc. (hereinafter called the McMannus Co.) was its subcontractor, erecting steel work. Plaintiff was an employee of the McMannus Co. The sixth floor of the building gave way causing plaintiff to fall several floors and receive physical injuries.
