PARKER, Judge.

Plaintiff is a resident of North Carolina and the former wife of defendant, who currently resides in New Mexico. Plaintiff instituted this action on 5 December 1989 in Mecklenburg County *402District Court to obtain a judicial order for the support of the two minor children of the parties’ marriage. The Parisher family lived in North Carolina from 1967 until the parties’ divorce in this State in 1982.
