The defendant appeals from a judgment following a plea of guilty to a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He assigns error to the denial by the circuit court of a timely.motion for leave to withdraw his plea of guilty under ORS 135.850.

The transcript reveals that prior to any proceedings in the circuit court, the trial judge instructed the defendant with painstaking care concerning all of his rights. The defendant insisted in open court that he understood the charge, that he was guilty, and that he did not want an. attorney. He also-stated that he, had a college education…
