Doerr, J.

Plaintiff sustained personal injuries on July 30, 1974 when the automobile which he was operating in the Town of *28Amherst, New York was struck in the rear by an automobile owned and operated by defendant. Plaintiff’s vehicle was owned by his employer, Linen Systems for Hospitals, Inc., not a party to the instant action. The damage to the automobile totaled nearly $1,000.
