BISHOP, J.
The respondent, the commissioner of correction, appeals from the judgment of the habeas court granting in part the revised second amended petition for a writ of habeas corpus filed by the petitioner, Norman Gaines. The respondent claims that the court incorrectly determined that the petitioner had established ineffective assistance of trial counsel and that he was prejudiced by counsel’s purported ineffectiveness. We disagree and, accordingly, affirm the judgment of the habeas court.
