In this appeal we consider whether the trial court abused its discretion in denying the plaintiff's motion to amend his ad damnum clause.
FACTS and PROCEEDINGS
On August 14, 2002, Sherman E. Whitaker was injured while working as a longshoreman on a boat docked in Portsmouth, Virginia and owned by Heinrich Schepers GMBH & Co. KG, a German corporation (Heinrich).
