On the first day of July, 1857, one William Backus filed a bill in chancery, in the Cook Circuit Court, against certain persons named therein as defendants, alleging that they had, on the 15th of December, 1855, associated themselves together and purported to form a corporation for manufacturing, cutting, working, vending and dealing in ice, under the name of “ the Crystal Lake Ice Company,” and for that purpose they had filed in the office of the clerk of the county of Cook, the required…
