WIGGINS, Justice.

A defendant brings a claim alleging his trial counsel provided ineffective assistance of counsel related to the defendant’s guilty plea to the crime of criminal transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in violation of Iowa Code section 709C.1 (2007)! The district court disagreed and dismissed the defendant’s post-conviction relief action. The defendant appealed and we transferred the case to our court of appeals. The court of appeals affirmed.
