Mabel Ives Stevens died in 1898 owning, subject to a life estate in her father; Samuel A. Stevens, who survived her, certain real estate located on Wall Street in New Haven, upon which a dwelling-house and brick block were and are now standing. Her sole heir was her father, who died in November, 1912. In the process of the settlement of her estate this real estate was—under an order of the Court of Probate of New Haven adjudging that it was ancestral estate derived by her by descent from her mother, Ellen M.
