CLAYTON, Justice.

Appellee, Miner-Dederick Construction Corporation (defendant and cross-plaintiff below) was the general or prime contractor to construct a library building and certain related works for the Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Appellee entered into three separate subcontracts with appellants, Mid-County Rental Service, Inc. and Alton M. Stewart (plaintiffs and cross-defendants below) relating to certain portions of the work.
