OPINION OF THE COURT

Harvey, J.

Plaintiff James H. Bleiler, Sr., was injured on October 8, 1980 when he was struck in his right eye by a small piece of metal. On October 9, 1980, he went to the emergency room of Tioga General Hospital for care and treatment. At the emergency room, he was interviewed by a nurse, who is unidentified, and was examined and treated by defendant Roman Bodnar, an emergency room physician. Apparently, Dr. Bodnar failed to detect that metal had imbedded itself into the eye. He provided plaintiff with an eye patch, prescribed use of an ointment and advised plaintiff to…
