In 2001, Appellant Jose Pablo Lopez was indicted for capital murder for causing Mario Espinosa’s death by employing others — namely, Ramiro Baltazar, Jose Badil-lo, and Elisandro Salinas — to commit Espi-nosa’s murder for remuneration or the promise of remuneration. In 2012, Lopez was extradited from Mexico to stand trial in Galveston County, Texas. The jury returned a guilty verdict, and Lopez was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole.
