On May 27, 1904, at the April term of the circuit court of the first circuit, the plaintiff obtained a verdict for $25,000 damages for the loss of its dredger through the alleged negligence of the defendants. On May 31 the defendants moved for a new trial and gave notice that the motion would be presented for argument on June 3 or as soon thereafter as counsel could be heard.
