It is alleged in the alternative writ of mandamus issued in this case that the plaintiff was, on the 17th day of September, 1895. duly and legally nominated to the office of district judge by the republican judicial convention, held at the city of El Dorado in Butler county, for the twenty-sixth judicial district, including the counties of Butler and Greenwood ;• that a certificate of such nomination in due form was signed by the chairman and secretary of said convention, and presented to the defendant secretary of state, with the request…
