The appellant, White, was indicted at the fall term, 181 8, of the circuit court of Dallas county, under § 8577 of the Revised Code of Alabama. There is but one count in the indictment, which is in the following words:

“ The grand jury of said county charge that, before the finding of this indictment, Hamilton-White, who is deputy sheriff of Dallas county, and being then and there such deputy sheriff and an officer of court, disclosed the fact that an indictment had been found by the grand jury of said county against one William Gill, before the said William Gill had been arrested, or given…
