Plaintiff sued the defendant for slander, alleging that defendant had willfully, maliciously, and falsely, orally stated to divers persons that the plaintiff had forged a bank check on him, the defendant, thereby falsely imputing to plaintiff, and charging him with, the crime of forgery, and that said statement was calculated to bring him, the plaintiff, into disrepute; praying for the statutory minimum judgment of $100.
