DICKSON, Justice.
This case is before us on a Petition to Transfer 1 from an order issued by the Court of Appeals dismissing an appeal of the trial court's denial of a Petition for Grandparent Visitation Rights.
The appellants, Herschel Walker and La-Verne Walker (the Walkers) are the paternal grandparents of Jamie Lynn West (Jamie). Jamie's mother, Lynn West, was married to John Walker and, following the dissolution of their marriage in 1989, was granted custody of Jamie.
