On September 21, 1981, the Board of Attorneys Professional Responsibility filed a complaint with the court alleging unprofessional conduct against William J. Meuer, an attorney licensed to practice law in 1959, and who practices in Madison. It alleged that in December of 1971, the respondent deposited the proceeds of a settlement in a personal injury matter into his trust account and drew two checks thereon, one payable to his client, *435the other payable to himself.
