Plaintiff instituted this suit against the city of Alexandria for the sum of $2,525, with legal interest thereon from judicial demand. For a cause of action she alleged as follows:
“4. That on or about the night of September 7, 1935, at about the hour of eight P. M., petitioner was walking along the sidewalk on the east side of Vance Avenue in the City of Alexandria, traveling in a northwesterly direction toward Lee Street; and in walking along said sidewalk she stepped into a great depression in the sidewalk, tripped when her foot caught in said depression, and stumbled against…
