This is an application by means of the writ of habeas corpus, to be admitted to bail by the relator wlio is held in custody under an indictment for arson, and who complains that he has been *4denied Ms constitutional right to a speedy trial through the fault of the State.

The record shows that the indictment against him was returned into court on the 22d of November, 1887, and that the trial of his case was fixed for the 20th of December following.
