This appeal arises out of the challenge of defendants Alltel Communications, Inc. and Alltel Communications of the Carolinas, Inc. (collectively “Alltel”) to an arbitration award in favor of plaintiff Cellular Plus of North Carolina, Inc. (“Cellular Plus”). The trial court ruled that the arbitration panel had no authority under the parties’ arbitration agreement to award treble damages, but that the panel could properly award attorneys’ fees.
