OPINION

At issue in this appeal is whether a circuit court is required to conduct an inquiry, prior to trial, into allegations of ineffective assistance of counsel that are raised by a defendant pro se. Relying on People v. Krankel, 102 Ill. 2d 181 (1984), the appellate court concluded that such an inquiry is required and because the circuit court did not undertake one, the appellate court remanded the cause to the circuit court for the limited purpose of conducting an inquiry…
