I. Statement of the Case
On March 24, 1989, plaintiff, Melvin White, brought suit against defendants, Natalee Schay and B. Jeffery Pence, under the provisions of 42 U.S.C. § 1982 and Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (The Fair Housing Act), 42 U.S.C. § 3601 et seq., alleging that the defendants discriminated against him because of his race by refusing to lease or rent to him certain real property owned by defendant, Pence, located in Little Rock, Arkansas.
