Gfunther Harms and Virginia Jensen were married at Evanston, Illinois on October 16, 1938. Two children were born of the marriage, Valerie, now about four years of age, and Virginia, now about two years of age. The parties separated on March 24, 1943. On that day Mrs. Harms filed a complaint for separate maintenance in the superior court of Cook county. On April 26, 1943, plaintiff, by leave of court, filed an amended' complaint for divorce, charging extreme and repeated cruelty.
