A check is defined by section 321 of the negotiable Instruments Law as “ a bill of exchange drawn on a bank, payable on demand.” The same section provides: “ Except as herein otherwise provided, the provisions of this chapter applicable to a bill of exchange payable on demand apply to a check.” Section 322 limits the time within which a check must be presented in the following language: “A check must be presented for payment within a reasonable time after its issue or the drawer will be discharged from liability thereon to the extent of the loss caused by the delay.” As to a reasonable time,…
