This is a petitory action in which the plaintiff, alleging himself to be the owner of a 10-acre tract of land in the N. E. 14 of the S. E. % of the N. W. % of section 36, T. 6 S., R. 7. E., St. Helena meridian, situated in the parish of Tangipahoa, avers that the defendant has taken actual, physical possession of a narrow strip thereof on the west side of the old Hammond-Ponchatoula highway, measuring approximately 100 feet in width by the full length of the tract, running north and south.
