BOYD, Justice.
Appellant Paul Herrera, Jr. brings this appeal from his conviction for the offense of voluntary manslaughter, Tex.Penal Code Ann. § 19.04. Punishment was assessed by the jury at twenty years confinement in the Texas Department of Corrections. For the reasons hereinafter set out, we reverse the judgment and remand the cause for a new trial.
