A short history of this dispute is necessary, due to the nature of the issues presented herein.

The Crestwood Education Association (CEA) has, for some time, acted as the certified bargaining agent for teachers employed by the Crestwood Board of Education (Board). Labor difficulties began in the district in the fall of 1971 when coaches of the student athletic teams and sponsors of student clubs refused to perform their assignments.
