Plaintiffs in this case, Alicia Danielle Zeigler and Monique M. Varnado, were both terminated from their employment as cytotechnologists with the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in December 2009. Following their terminations, plaintiffs filed the present action alleging claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq., for race and gender discrimination and for retaliation;1 for retaliation in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), 29 U.S.C. § 201, et seq.; under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for…
