OPINION OF THE COURT

Memorandum.

The order of the Appellate Division should be reversed, the *962plea vacated, the motion to suppress granted, and the case remitted to the trial court for further proceedings on the indictment.

The defendant was arrested and taken to the police station where he was advised of his rights and confronted with statements made by the victim and her mother. When he stated "I might need a lawyer”, the police officer referred him to a local telephone directory after determining that the defendant did not have an attorney.
