Following a jury trial, defendant, Gregory Becker, a Chicago police officer, was convicted of one count of armed violence (720 ILCS 5/33A — 2 (West 1994)), one count of involuntary manslaughter (720 ILCS 5/9 — 3(a) (West 1994)) and three counts of official misconduct (720 ILCS 5/33 — 3(a), (b) (West 1994)) involving the shooting death of Joseph Gould.
