1Opinion of the Court

RIPPLE, Circuit Judge.

Roger and Velma Rasche (“the Rasch-es”) brought this action pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against the Village of Beecher and the Village President Paul Lohmann. They alleged that they had been the victims of retaliation because they had exercised their First Amendment rights by opposing Village bond proposals. The district court granted summary judgment for the Village and for Mr. Lohmann. The Rasches appeal. For the reasons set forth in this opinion, we now affirm the judgment of the district court.
