OPINION OF THE COURT

Ritter, J.

The County Court ordered a Darden hearing (People v Darden, 34 NY2d 177) before deciding a motion to suppress evidence seized pursuant to a search warrant that was issued on the basis of information supplied "in large part” by a confidential informant. The court’s action was taken "to guard against fabrication of informants [and] to insure [the informant] exists”. The informant’s testimony was to be taken at a closed hearing, not to be attended by either the defendant or his counsel, in order to prevent disclosure of the informant’s identity.
