Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Albany County (Turner, Jr., J.), rendered May 2, 1990, convicting defendant upon his plea of guilty of the crime of robbery in the second degree.

On December 29, 1988, an armed robbery was committed with a sawed-off shotgun at the Central Veterinary Clinic in *811the City of Albany. Three days later defendant’s former girlfriend, Rosemary Trichilo, told the police that defendant had dropped off a sawed-off shotgun at her home.
