MEMORANDUM OPINION
SUE L. ROBINSONS, District Judge.
I. INTRODUCTION
Plaintiffs Amanda Humphreys and Louis Chance, III (“plaintiffs”) are the mother and son of decedent Louis W. Chance Jr. (“Chance”). (D.I. 1, 3) They were appointed administrators of his estate on June 20, 2005 and soon after filed this 42 U.S.C. § 1983 action alleging that defendants violated Chance’s right under the Eighth Amendment to be free from the infliction of cruel and unusual punishment or death by the intentional denial of medical treatment.
