Plaintiff in error was indicted in the criminal court of Cook county with one Sylvester Springer and one William H. A. Moore, for the murder of Julia Hawkins. Springer and Moore obtained a separate trial. Plaintiff in error was tried, found guilty and sentenced to death. The defense was insanity.
