When Claude Don Green died he had on deposit with the Retirement Board of the Municipal Employees Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago (Fund) approximately $13,200. Under the provisions of the Illinois Pension Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1979, ch. IO8J2, par. 8 — 171), that money would be paid to the widow in the form of an annuity in the amount of approximately $134 per month or, absent a widow, the entire amount would be paid in a lump sum to the heirs.
