A jury convicted Applicant of capital murder for the death of a four-year-old child she and her husband were in the process of adopting. The trial court sentenced her to life imprisonment without parole. Her conviction and sentence were upheld by the court of appeals and we refused her petition for discretionary review. Overton v.
