Rolando Ruiz filed a post-conviction application for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to the provisions of Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 11.071 § 5, a motion to reconsider a previously filed application, and a motion to stay the execution. By order dated August 26, 2016, this Court stayed Ruiz's execution date but did not rule on his application and motions.
