The respondent was convicted in the superior court of the city of Grand Rapids upon an information charging him with keeping his saloon open in said city, in violation of the law, upon Sunday, October 22, 1889.

The complaint was made in the police court of Grand Rapids, and all proceedings preliminary to the filing of the information were had in that court. After his conviction the respondent made a motion in arrest of judgment, and for his discharge, upon the ground that the police court of Grand Rapids had no jurisdiction to examine and hold to bail persons charged with violations of the…
