The libelants were a part of the crow of the British bark Topsy. The shipping articles, dated 12th August, 1889, state her voyage in these words:
“From Montreal and Quebec to Toulon, France, for a series of voyages for a term, but not exceeding two years, at master’s option, to port or places within, but not beyond, 70u north, and 70° south, latitude; trading to and fro, as required by master and owners.
