kThis is a tort suit arising out of an off-duty deputy, who was working a private detail for a parking lot owner, shooting and injuring an armed parking lot patron. *645The narrow issue presented is whether the trial court correctly concluded that the deputy, Taraunce Charles Martin, acted in self-defense and thus that the deputy’s private employer, Central Parking System of Louisiana, Inc., could not be vicariously liable to the injured patron, Kyle Aaron Brown.
